Island of Hvar, a cradle of Croatian tourism, celebrates 140 years of the rich tourism tradition. Its location, climate, clear sea and the rich cultural heritage have had influenced the beginning of organised tourism as long as 1868, when Hygienic Community was founded. The Community had encouraged and monitored the development of tourism and had made the way to the most important economic activity of this place, now recognized worldwide as an important tourist destination, visited by the most demanding people on the Globe.
